The more you chase, the more it runs from you
The more you chase it, the further away it slips. It's as if the harder you squeeze it-the sand slips through your fingers. And that is a pattern we all go through-be it relationships or a feeling of success, or even happiness. For life is so strange: the more you try the harder to get something, the more out of the question it is to become yours. The pursuit can bring tension and anxiety and an unhealthy obsession with the outcome-an outcome that often sends the very thing we desire running.
Imagine a dog running after his tail. The faster he runs, the greater distance his tail creates before him. Almost funny, though it really becomes a very good metaphor for human nature. We are chasing something-be it approval or wealth, or recognition-and while we're doing it, we've lost view of what's really important. We forget to be in the present moment and appreciate the small victories, or finding contents in ourselves.
Now, the irony is that when you let go, what you wanted often comes to you. It's the art of letting go- understanding that life is not about control; instead of pushing with all your might, learn to attract by becoming the best version of yourself. Be it success or relationships, things come to people who are patient, focused, and at peace with where they are.
The next time you're in hot pursuit of something, pause and take a breath. Let it come to you, because within the silence is one where you might realize whatever it is you've been chasing has actually been waiting for you all along.
