The Silence after goodbye
Long waits for arrivals from other parts of the world build up to a re-union celebration. After having shared time, laughter, and memories with them, they become an essential part of your daily lives. You hold them so dear, and with them, your home seems full and alive.
But on return from the vacation, reality awaits them; they must return home. A gigantic hollow seems to press down upon the space they had occupied once when they leave. The echoes of the children's laughter and the cry of a baby still resonate in your mind, but a desert-like feel settles upon the rooms they were utilizing. It is too paining to even step into such spaces.
The home, which was once so vibrant and full of life, became too silent, and time crawls by. Every day stretches into an eternity and loneliness. The weather's different, the temperature weird, as if the outer world was reflecting the void left outside. Like someone took the heart out of the home.
You start counting days, waiting for the day when they will come back to you so that they can once again fill your life with warmth and happiness.
