Things that I have learned from Stranger Things
“Friends don’t lie”
Stranger Things gained enough popularity not only for its suspense and 80's nostalgia but also for the valuable life lessons that it holds. Here is what I learned from the show:
1. Friendship is powerful
In the relationship between the group, we see the importance of genuine friendships. The children believe in one another blindly and make us realize that friends are the ones who help us out when we are afraid. As Eleven would say, "Friends don’t lie." And this saying exemplifies the trust and loyalty that create long-lasting friendships.
2. Be Brave, Even When You're Scared
Not an easy thing to do, but each character faces their fears head-on: Joyce by searching round for Will, Eleven by fighting her inner demons. Chief Hopper reminds us, "Mornings are for coffee and contemplation." Essential to reflect on one’s life and, when ready, tackle our fears with bravery.
3. Family is Worth Fighting
For But of course, family extends far beyond blood, as the characters show us: whether it’s Joyce fighting for her kids' safety or Eleven finding a new family in her friends, Stranger Things teaches us that family means being there for one another no matter what. As Hopper says, "You’re my family. You’re all I have." Those who care for us become our family, regardless of relation.
4. Be Yourself
It’s really about loving the things that make you special and being those in true forms. Each person in the show has their quirks and owns them, from Dustin’s nerdiness to Eleven’s psychokinetic abilities. It’s a lesson to be your authentic self and love what makes you different. It’s best said by Eleven herself when she says, "You shouldn’t like things because people tell you you’re supposed to."
Love your interests and personality-they make you who you are.
5. Hope is Never Lost
Even when things look bleaker than ever, the characters keep on fighting. The show teaches us that hope is important, no matter the darkness; according to Hopper, "There’s more to life than stupid boys." It calls one back to focus on the important things and not give up, no matter what life has ahead.
In short, Stranger Things is full of life lessons; with courage, loyalty, and hope, we can face any monster or challenge that comes our way-everything from the Demogorgons to unrequited love.
