What If It Works Out?

We're so focused on what might go wrong that we hardly ever even take a moment to consider what might go right. And yet again, it's just so easy to slip into those "what ifs": what if I fail? What if they reject me? What if I'm not good enough? These are usually what bounce around in our heads and make us doubt ourselves and hesitate.

What If It Works Out?

But what if, just for one day, we could switch roles? What if instead of the worst-case scenario, we asked ourselves: What if it works out?

What if the risk you were afraid to take turns out to be the very opportunity you were looking for? What if the thing that scares you most about starting is the very thing that turns out to be your greatest accomplishment? What if the choice you're holding off on opens a door for something even better than you could imagine?

Life has a funny way of surprising us at times when we least expect it. By always assuming the worst, we cut ourselves short before we even get started. Of course, by default, that which terrifies us the most is usually that which normally propels people into growth, new experiences, and success. Opening up a world of opportunity by letting ourselves imagine that things might go right instead is what matters.

It's not blindly optimistic; it's not blindly ignoring the problems. It's changing your mindset to add those positive outcomes to your cognitive package that you tend to forget about. The fact of the matter is, things may very well work out in ways you never expected.

So the next time you're feeling that creeping doubt that sets its self beside you as you think about the idea ask yourself: *What if it works out?* You may be surprised at where that question takes you.
